Tant l&#8217;EASA que la FAA ont enregistr\u00e9 ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es une augmentation des rapports d&#8217;incidents li\u00e9s \u00e0 des impacts d&#8217;oiseaux sur les h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res. Cela s&#8217;accompagne d&#8217;un risque accru de dommages importants \u00e0 l&#8217;a\u00e9ronef ainsi que de blessures graves ou de d\u00e9c\u00e8s des occupants. En effet, contrairement aux h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res militaires, les h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res civils ne disposent que d&#8217;une faible protection balistique. En outre, seuls 10 % de la flotte europ\u00e9enne d&#8217;h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res sont certifi\u00e9s contre l&#8217;exigence relative aux impacts d&#8217;oiseaux dans CS29.631.
